Alison Alcantara: Johnstown, PA
Alison Alcantara graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2010. She has spent the majority of her career working in the intensive care unit at a level one trauma center. Most recently she has begun working as a patient care coordinator in a Ryan White Clinic. She loves working in an environment where no two days are the same and has a passion for helping people navigate difficult circumstances. When she is not at work, Alison enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, and camping with her husband, BJ, and 3 Shih Tzus.
Growing up, Alison spent the summer swimming in her parent’s pool. She always loved the water and joined the swim team in high school. In 2017, Alison and BJ purchased bikes and completed an MS 150 ride in an effort to regain fitness. Having a base in swimming, Alison set a goal of doing a triathlon. It took another 2 years to get the courage to sign up for her first race. The sport of triathlon can be complicated without the help of a community or a coach. Training, transitions, gear, open water swimming, it’s hard to know where to start. After crossing her first finish line in 2019, she was hooked. She has since completed 2 Ironman 70.3 races and has a goal of hearing “Alison Alcantara, you are an ironman” some day. Born and raised in the small town of Johnstown, Alison is excited to be a resource for new or seasoned triathletes. She recently completed the Happy Valley 70.3 and loved having the support of Rise Up Racing throughout race weekend. It was amazing having support throughout the course. She is excited for Rise Up Racing to come to Cambria County and throughout small town Pennsylvania. Why Not Us?
