Athlete of the Month

After being inspired by her friend Esther, Ruchi set out to complete her very first olympic distance triathlon at the Independence Triathlon in May. After months of consistent hard work and dedication to training she crossed the finish line with a strong first-time finish. Ruchi showed up, stayed committed, and raced with heart, a perfect reflection of what Rise Up Racing is all about and we couldn’t be prouder of her!

Here is what Ruchi says:

“Growing up, I was never into sports, but my parents had me join the local swim team at a young age to keep my sister and I busy and out of trouble during the summers. In high school I joined the track and field team. No, I didn’t run… I was a thrower who hid in the bathroom stalls to avoid running the warm up mile. My journey started when I would hear Esther talk about her own journey with this sport. Watching her, inspired me. When I told Esther that I want to try this out, she was excited. With her support and encouragement, we did a sprint triathlon relay where I did the open water swim which kicked off my addiction and desire for more. I set my eye on the Olympic distance triathlon for our 30th birthdays in May. We ended up competing at the Independence Race near our hometown on her birthday! I always thought that crossing the finish line would be big moment of victory but reflecting back it was about the journey to the finish line that mattered more – staying consistent, prioritizing myself, pushing myself to do something out of my comfort zone and of course all the sweet treats after workouts all while having the best support team/community. This past year has shown me that anything is truly possible and it’s never too late to try something new. I am stronger, braver, and more capable than I ever believed I could be. A huge thanks to Esther, my family, Rise up Racing, and especially Robin for taking my idea that once seemed impossible and helping me make it into reality. Here’s to the next adventures with an amazing team.”
