Athlete of the Month

Julie watched her daughter finish 70.3 five years ago. She watched and thought ‘wow wouldn’t that be cool, but … I had a hip replacement and other medical setbacks, I’m much older, and I’m not a good swimmer.’ But pushing that all aside she decided to ‘tri.’ She showed up at countless swim lessons all winter long and followed her training program. And come August she not only completed her first super sprint, but she won her age group! She is our superhero!!

Here is what Julie says:

“I cannot say enough about Robin and Rise Up Racing. I have had the desire to do a triathlon since I watched my daughter complete her first 70.3 five years ago. I never talked about it much with anyone because I am the most unlikely triathlete. I had heard about Robin and knew an athlete that she had coached so I made the leap and called her. Best decision ever. Not only is she knowledgeable as a coach but she is so positive and encouraging, and most of all, patient. Always answering all my questions – and I had A LOT! I have had many medical setbacks over the recent years, including hip replacement surgery. Robin’s coaching allowed me to train and prepare without any further injuries. I had doubts about completing a triathlon all along, but Robin never did! Not only was this my first tri – but my youngest son joined me and completed his first also. Had it not been for Robin’s coaching and encouragement I would never have made it to the start line let along finish. Anyone from a total novice like myself to an experienced athlete would benefit from Robin’s expertise. As an added bonus to training with Robin – I became a part of the Rise Up Racing team! I was fortunate to have two team members racing at Milheim and Sarah and Jackie were so helpful on race day. Being part of a team definitely has many perks and advantages and Robin has built an awesome community with Rise Up Racing. I am already planning on next year’s season and hope to participate in a team race event.”
