Athlete of the Month

lex had an outstanding performance at the Mesa Half Marathon in February. A true perfect race, if there ever is one, finishing in 1:32:46! We are excited to see what he does at Lake Placid this Summer.

Here is what Alex says:

“I honestly was surprised to hear coach Robin selected me as the athlete of the month. I didn’t think I’d been doing anything special. I’ve just been trying to stay consistent and get each of he workouts in. I used to not care about some of the “extra” stuff like mobility or stretch workouts. However, the week before the half marathon I diligently stretched every night and after a few consecutive days I noticed a big difference in how my body felt overall. I was much more relaxed throughout the day and I felt a lot more agile. So I noticed real quickly Robin doesn’t just put workouts on there for fun or torture us! Consistency and dedication trump motivation any day, so I’ve just tried to stay as consistent as I can. I still struggle with the swim and want to see my bike time improve but I have faith that following the workouts that Robin has laid out will get me there.” In the past year Alex made a big move with his family from Williamsport to Arizona. He summarizes this season of life by saying, “Moving to AZ from central PA hasn’t been easy and we’ve lost our sense of community. Even though I’m not there doing the workouts with the team, tracking the team members workouts on Strava and social media has kept me motivated. Staying consistent with everyone has been one of my few motivators during a difficult time.”
