John
We have all had winters where we just can’t shake a cold no matter what we do. Well, John has had a rough 2024 with not many races going his way…simply bad luck. And then came the sickness. But if you know John he is one of the biggest cheerleaders on the team. He selflessly has given up races of his own to help team members cross the finish line. He always stays until the last finisher and often is the one running them in. So instead of getting down on himself and all the bad luck he has had– John rallied this winter. And we are happy to see him dominate a ‘small race’ for him. (if you don’t know John– he thinks it is funny he got this award for such a ‘small’ race).
Here is what he says:
“Thank you for choosing me as athlete of the month! It’s an honor. It’s been a rough winter for me as I seemed to get sick every month but I recouped enough to have a great Marine Corps 17.75 race. The weather was perfect and we had a great day on a beautiful wooded course. I beat my time from 2022 by 13 minutes. I have a pretty good race schedule this year and I’m really looking forward to training with my friends and the team. I can’t wait to get back in the river for our group swims.”
